A beautiful feudal Japanese city is erupting in violence. In its misty streets and alleys a killer lurks, awaiting his prey. Sano Ichiro is the shogun's Most Honorable Investigator of Events, Situations, and People. Clearly, the murder constitutes an act of war against the shogun, and it falls to Sano to find the culprit. Danger and deception dog his every step through the sumptuous castle, the tawdry pleasure district, and the serene temples of the city.
