Opening of a TPS section
TPS: a new feature for the next school year!
In connection with the start of the 2022-2023 school year, we would like to officially announce the opening of the TPS (Very Small Section) at LFIK.
Here is some useful information about this section creation:
As you know, “French” schooling starts in the Petite Section (PS) class. French kindergarten corresponds to the first cycle (Cycle 1) of a child’s education. If play is very present in the learning process, this first cycle is a real “learning cycle”, with official programmes designed to guarantee the first skills expected at the end of Grande Section, in order to be able to start CP with a solid foundation. As you know, education is now compulsory in France from the age of 3, and kindergarten, with its 3-year cycle, is thus the first stage of education.
What is the TPS? You will find a summary document below and as an attachment (in three languages) below to get
For the very small children, it is a question of discovering the world of the school, of learning (discovery of others, of the functioning of a system outside the family). Accessible from the age of 2, and during the year depending on the number of places available, this section of TPS pupils is limited to a maximum of 8 children and is included in the Petite Section class.
There are no compulsory timetables, but a few major areas of focus are defined:
- Appropriating language
- Discovering the written word
- Becoming a pupil
- Acting and expressing oneself with the body
- Discovering the world
- Perceiving, feeling, imagining, creating
Functioning:
Play is of course omnipresent at this age. Specific support is provided for the children of TPS within the class. One of the ambitions is also to put language at the heart of the practices (in French and in Japanese, depending on the child’s mother tongue).
As you will see in the document, several options are available (morning or full day). Do not hesitate to contact the Vie Scolaire or the secretariat for further information (or come and discuss it with us directly).
Registration for the TPS at the LFIK is a gradual and gentle entry into the school environment, within a system adapted to the needs and development of each child. The TPS pupils benefit from the same possibilities as the other levels (timetables, day care, etc.).
